Masters of Harmony

In July 2014, the Masters of Harmony, eight-time international chorus champions, traveled to Las Vegas to compete in the Barbershop Harmony Society’s International Chorus Contest. The chorus’s stunning performance produced an instant standing ovation all over the MGM Grand Hotel from audience members who literally roared their approval. Despite a stellar, high-scoring presentation, the chorus garnered a second-place silver medal and their remarkable streak of eight consecutive titles came to an end.

Moving past their disappointment, the Masters men are undaunted in their determination to reach the top once again. They took the necessary first step in May when they won the Southwest Division Chorus Contest in Santa Monica. That qualified the chorus for the next step, the Far Western District Chorus Contest at the Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, Arizona, this October. There is so much anticipation for this contest that the host hotel, Phoenix Marriott, was sold out several months before the contest. The winning chorus will represent the Far Western District in Nashville in July 2016.

The Masters of Harmony have traveled the road to Nashville before when they won the seventh of their eight championships there in July 2008. The Masters hope to live up to their mantra of current leadership – “You Have What it Takes!” – by keeping the international chorus championship here in the Far Western District!
